Dan: To answer your question, "CK would have to pitch a LOT more good games to change my view of his postseason record." He had a great 2020. Bravo — and not a young man in 2020. But the numbers speak for themselves: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kershcl01.shtml ... I honestly don't sit around waiting for the guy to screw up. But his terrible outing last week vs. AZ prompted me to reread this essay, and your comment. However, there exists a simple, persistent disconnect between what Dodger fans, and frankly Dodger managers expect from Kershaw in the playoffs and what he delivers — over the course of 15 years and 22 series games. The opener against the D-backs (a team he has utterly dominated in the regular season) is just the latest example.

I bet you love what happened in 2020 that turns so much of what you have said on its face. He literally struck out 13 batters against the Brewers, and had one of the best games in a playoff game that we’ve seen in quite a while. You also forget that his 2017 World Series numbers were greatly skewed by the at least one game where he got totally blown out in the bedrock of the biggest cheaters ever arguably, banging on trash cans and using cameras in centerfield to steal signs. The fact that you don’t even reference the cheating Astros in this just shows that you are not a very good observer of baseball.

Wait for the full length 2021 season version of Kershaw, and I am no Nostradamus, but I think you will be eating a lot of your words about Kershaw being no good in the postseason, as I believe he has changed his whole outlook for that, and with his breaking pitches, if he sticks with them at least 65 or 70% of the time, he can be the next Greg Maddux.

How many times will he need to pitch well in the postseason for you to officially amend your post here as old outdated news? I am a lifelong dodger fan, and I certainly hope that maybe after this year or 2022, you’ll feel like a total fool if you do not amend your words in this post.
